🔘MEGAETH (Beta)
WHAT IS MEGAETH?
MegaETH is defined as a “next-generation blockchain” built on Ethereum, designed to offer “real-time” transactions.
Its technical goal: to support more than 100,000 transactions per second (TPS), with extremely low block times—10 milliseconds per block, with the ambition of reducing them to ~1 ms in the future.
It is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), meaning that developers can port their smart contracts from Ethereum with minimal modifications.
HOW DOES MEGAETH WORK?
MegaETH's architecture introduces several key elements that differentiate it from more traditional L2 solutions:
Separation of roles across different nodes: there are “sequencers” (which order transactions), “provers” (which generate cryptographic proofs), and full nodes (to rebuild state and ensure integrity). This modularity allows for processing many transactions in parallel.
Near-instant confirmation (“fast finality”): Due to its design, transactions are confirmed very quickly, which is essential for dApps that require minimal latency.
EVM compatibility: By using EVM, existing Ethereum tools (wallets, development environments, contracts) work without changes or with minimal adjustments.
In addition, MegaETH plans to integrate a native stablecoin, called USDm, — in partnership with the Ethena protocol — to offer lower fees and more stable transactions within its ecosystem.
WHAT WAS IT CREATED FOR?
MegaETH's main objective is to bridge the gap between decentralized blockchains (Web3) and the speed/usability of traditional apps (Web2). Specifically:
To facilitate dApps that require real-time interactivity: multiplayer games, virtual worlds, social applications, etc., thanks to its minimal latency.
Enabling high-frequency trading (DeFi), fast settlements, on-chain arbitrage, and decentralized exchanges with near-instantaneous behavior.
Enabling micropayments, instant payments, a microtransaction economy, and even IoT applications or those requiring fast and inexpensive execution.
Providing an accessible environment for developers: thanks to EVM compatibility, anyone with Ethereum experience can easily create or migrate dApps.
MegaETH was created to bring “Web2-like” performance to Web3, making dApps as responsive, fluid, and usable as traditional applications—but with the decentralization, security, and immutability of a blockchain.
